The Steel-MAX  SMART stump system is a D.I.Y, multi-fit, universal, modular, telescopically height adjustable sub-floor stump system, for domestic and light commercial buildings, which is designed to be used to support most common timber and steel floor framing.

  •  SMART stumps are a Modular system, with separate base, top and stump tube sections, which allows the user the flexibility to mix and match components to suit various job applications, according to design and site conditions.
  • Each part of the stump is independently flexible in it’s use and application.
  • The 75 and 89 mm stumps are also available in a variety of standard tops, to take straight runs of bearers and a “multi-top” fitting, which allows bearers to be joined at 90 deg. corners (and other angles) and at “T” intersections. Tops fit over the stump tube, of any wall thickness, to minimise water ingress and are telescopically height adjustable up to 75 mm to allow for flexibility of adjustment and speed of installation.
  • Our new Screw tops will also be available soon, which have 100mm screw height adjustability for use in reactive soil conditions.
  • Steel-MAX does NOT supply the stump tube, however; it is readily available in a range of standard wall thicknesses from your local steel supplier, to give the designer the choice he needs for almost any job, depending on the stump height and strength required. The stump tube can be simply and quickly cut to any length on site as required from long 8.0 m lengths, as you go, or your steel supplier can cut it to the lengths you need, for you.
  • The stump tops are Universal fitting, because they are designed to support almost any type of timber framing as well as steel bearers and beams of various sizes and sections.
  • The stump base fittings are made from very strong channel section, which can be used on footing pads which are not level and will allow them to be fixed to tops of sloping strip footings. Once fixed to the footings, they will allow the stump tube to be adjusted along the channel to plumb the tube and be connected at any position from either in the centre or flush with one end (for external corners). The same fitting can be fixed vertically to the face of retaining or base walls and still support stumps and posts, because of the high shear strength of the fixings used. The base fittings double as a post top fitting, to directly support large beams like universal beams. in addition; they are also used as heavy duty connector brackets, to fix framing members to walls or columns and other members. Very flexible!
  • Installation and site assembly is made quick and easy, by the simple use of tek screws and M12 gal bolts, which provide enormous shear capacity when used in the high strength steel fittings.
  • All components can be purchased separately, adding to the flexibility of the system.
  • All fittings are either hot dipped galvanized, Galvabond or Dacrotised and are pre-punched with bolt and screw holes to suit.
  • In addition to the stumps themselves; Steel-MAX has a range of sub-floor bracing brackets and a series of floor frame connector brackets, which may be installed by using the guides provided by Steel-MAX.
  • Engineering certification and installation guides for timber, steel channel, tube and LSB are available on this web site on the Products page, which makes it easy and user friendly for D.I.Y’s and professionals alike.
